Acupuncture is a method of encouraging the body to promote natural healing and improve function within the body. This is done by inserting hair fine thin needles and applying heat and/or electrical stimulation at very precise acupuncture points. The classic Chinese explanation is that energy (Qi) travels through channels in the body surface. These channels, called meridians, are like rivers that run through the body and nourish the tissue. An obstruction in the movement of these energy rivers is like a dam that backs up the flow in one part of the body and restricts it in others. Any obstruction and blockages or deficiencies of energy, blood and fluid eventually lead to dysfunction and disease.
Acupuncture needling can influence the meridians by unblocking the obstruction of the dams and reestablishing the regular flow of energy (Qi). Acupuncture treatments can help our body's internal organs to correct imbalances in digestion, absorption, energy production activities and in the circulation of its energy through the meridians.
Acupuncture is effective in pain control, sinus problems, addictions (alcohol, drugs, smoking, etc.), post-surgical pain, infertility, weight loss, athletic injuries and much more.
